You can use it to make borscht or another soup or stew. Add 1-2 teaspoons to your recipe to have a healthier soup but a richer flavour in your soup.

If kept in a cool dry place, the shelf life should approximately be 1 year without appreciable loss of flavour or functional characteristics.
