Organic Traditions Organic Holy Basil
Holy basil, also commonly known as Tulsi or “The Incomparable One” has been revered in India for centuries. It is considered to be one of the most sacred plants in the Ayurvedic Tradition. Tulsi leaves were traditionally used for religious, ceremonial and medicinal purposes. This adaptogenic herb is one of the key rejuvenating tonics in Ayurveda. For centuries, sages and yogis have used the herb before meditation in order to calm the mind and encourage a blissful state. Holy Basil is known for its refreshingly fragrant basil-citrus, anise-like flavour. It is a wonderful herb to incorporate into the daily diet with many health promoting benefits. This balancing herb supports many systems of the body. According to the energetic principles of Ayurveda, Holy Basil is pungent in the Rasa taste energy and heating in action according to Virya. Although it is considered a heating herb, in small amounts it will not aggravate Pitta and is particularly good for removing excess Vata and Kapha. All three constitutions can benefit from the use of Holy Basil.

How To Use In The Kitchen And On-The-Go:
While most supercritical extracts are only available in a liquid form, Organic Traditions proprietary technology offers this dual-extraction in an easy to use, semisoluble, free flowing powder. The powder is extremely concentrated. Adjust the amount for your needs and for each unique application.
⅛-¼ of a teaspoon of Full Spectrum Holy Basil powder can be added to 8-16 oz. of water, coconut water, any beverage, smoothie or recipe. Make warm tea-like infusions by adding the powder to warm water (not boiling) and a natural sweetener of your choice such as Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup or Organic Traditions Coconut Palm Sugar.
A cup of Holy Basil tea (do not use hot or boiling water – lukewarm water is fine) with Yacon or Coconut Palm Sugar is wonderful before any mental activity, meditative practice or even before bed. It is also excellent as a daily tonic. In traditional Ayurveda, Holy Basil is often prepared in a milk decoction or combined with Ghee. You can choose to use almond milk or any other non-dairy milk as an alternative. Holy basil combines well with many herbs such as Brahmi, Gotu Kola, Turmeric and Ashwagandha. Add Full spectrum Holy Basil for example to a water bottle with a teaspoon of Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup when you are on the go to create a refreshing and uplifting drink. Simply shake and enjoy.
Please note that Holy Basil has a lovely basil, anise-like taste. It is very palatable, but some may prefer to use a small amount of natural sweetener.
