Between the COVID-19 reports, chilly weather and cold and flu season, it’s only natural we become ‘hyper aware’ of our health. Protecting ourselves from germs and bugs has never felt more urgent. But no matter the season, it’s always a sensible idea to take health precautions and do what we can to build a strong immune system. The stronger our immune system, the less likely we are to fall ill.

What can we do to build a strong immune system?

It may sound cliche, but leading an actively healthy lifestyle is one of the best ways we can build a strong immune system. This includes eating nutrient rich food, getting enough quality sleep, exercising, managing our stress and maintaining excellent gut health. But in our busy, modern world, it’s not always possible to balance everything perfectly. Sometimes we need extra support to boost our immunity and ensure our defences are as good as can be.

Vitamins and Supplements are a convenient way to meet all our nutritional needs

They’re able to fill the gaps we may have in our diets as well as arming our immune systems with an extra line of defense. At Body Energy Club, we’re committed to offering you the widest variety of health and wellness products to make it easy for you to keep living your best life. In this blog, we explore 5 of our favourite natural vitamins and supplements to help you build a strong immune system this season - and anytime you need extra support.

Before embarking on any kind of new supplement regime, chat to your doctor first and have them advise you on the best course of action.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been long known for its role in supporting a healthy immune system and is a vitamin the body is not able to produce on its own. It won’t necessarily stop you from catching a cold, but it may decrease the length and severity of your symptoms. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, making it your immune system’s best friend. It also aids in the growth and repair of body tissue as well as helping wounds to heal.

Vitamin D

When we hear the words “Vitamin D” we usually associate it with ‘lack of sunshine”. But Vitamin D goes far beyond that. It plays a vital role in our immune function as well as helping reduce the likelihood of getting the flu.

Vitamin D is also crucial for muscle, bone and joint function and even helps regulate our mood. This makes it a supplement that’s not only perfect for cooler weather and seasonal illness, but ideal all year round for optimal functioning.

NAC (N-Acetyl- L-Cysteine)

Cysteine is an amino acid and NAC is the powerhouse supplement form of Cysteine. NAC plays a huge role in antioxidant production, arming your immune system with its best line of defense. It’s also known for reducing inflammation in the lungs and relieving symptoms of respiratory conditions. It can also be taken to help with liver detoxification.

Zinc

Another nutrient that the body is not able to produce, Zinc is known for its role in bolstering immune function, wound healing and growth and development. Zinc supplements activate particular immune cells and help reduce the risk of infection as well as the length of a cold.

Our Body Energy Club Zinc is an all natural mineral supplement that contains a dose of highly bioavailable Zinc as well as Magnesium, Aspartate and Vitamin B6.

Oregano Oil

Oregano Oil has been used since ancient times for natural medicinal purposes. It is antibacterial, anti inflammatory, a natural pain reliever and contains a highly concentrated dose of antioxidants. It helps protect the body from infections, nasty bacteria and helps relieve sinus conditions and seasonal allergies.

It can be taken orally, applied to the skin or even add a few drops to your diffuser and have it wafting through your home.

Oregano oil is very strong, so always make sure you dilute the oil before using it and speak to a doctor about dosage. We also offer it in capsule form if you don’t like the taste of placing it under your tongue or adding to a glass of water.
