Pre-Workout Supplements

Pre-workout supplements have become one of the most used supplements in the fitness industry. These days, many of us are scooping up these power-packed products to fuel us during intense training sessions.  Pre-workout supplements come in all varieties from powders, to pills and ready-made drinks. Some people like the convenience of ready-to-drink beverages while others like myself, prefer the powders mixed with water.

Caffeine is in many foods like coffee and chocolate; as a supplement, caffeine in pill form is a convenient way to get that added boost to your workouts. It is often a main ingredient in many pre-workout supplements out there. Caffeine also supports fast metabolism, focus, mental clarity, and strength!

L-Arginine is an amino acid produced by the body. L-Arginine as a supplement is used as it is a precursor to Nitric Oxide and a Vasodilator, which means it may help your blood vessels expand within a normal range. L-Arginine is often included in pre-workout supplements or it can be taken on its own for its awesome muscle pump! L-Arginine helps support intense workouts and explosive movements!

Beta-Alanine naturally occurs in the body and has been known to decrease fatigue during exercise activity. Beta-Alanine promotes muscular endurance and performance during exercise. It is usually included in pre-workout blends or you can use it by itself.

Creatine promotes strength, power and lean muscle. It is often used for muscle building as it creates volume in the body. Some people experience bloating when taking this supplement, however there are some forms of Creatine-such as creatine monohydrate-which does not contribute to bloating.

Plant-Based Pre-workout like VEGA Pre-workout is one of my favourite pre-workout pumps! This supplement is all plant-based with functional sugars to keep you fuelled throughout your workouts. Yerba mate and green tea give that extra kick start plus there are adaptogen herbs, along with anti-inflammatory herbs to help with recovery.
